To my personal view: the presentation of the CD and the composition of the album shows that the band seems to want to open up a wider audience. Who exactly has the interest in it is questionable (I would like to ask anything, you put not in it), but Morten Veland is in my opinion a genius who does not use its capacities here. Instead, all the songs are constructed according to scheme X, and a radio-Edition as well as a Sirenia media player are provided equal. For me personally, as "At Sixes And Sevens" an album has been that has exactly met my musical nerve because the songs were all small in itself a work of art. They simply had "that certain something". This new album does not create the darkly melancholy, abysmal Veland atmosphere easily. The growls have been completely taken out (except for two songs), there are fewer tempo changes and more similar characteristics Parts. In addition, violins are hardly used. Say, you try to reach a wider audience and make the songs slightly audible. Cynics would say the band degenerates into commercial band. That should decide for themselves, but for me is the album a long time closer to the ingenious predecessor. I think if you too adapts his music to the masses, it is artificial and fake. If Sirenia really would prefer more leisurely through their own style as before, it stands to reason that they would need hardly fish for fans.
Overall, even for beginners well accessible, straightes, still quite solid gothic rock (barely -Metal) album with melodic choruses and a matching music female voice. Who "Within Temptation" likes and enjoys listening to charts, can thus certainly do something and it will be like. Who complex, wants deeper matter and hopes for a continuation of the predecessor, will probably be disappointed or bored. Who has not yet gathered the previous albums, may prefer to access there where Veland has presented to me personally in absolute top form. Because there is no 2.5 stars, I reach for much consideration to three, because the lyrics are in my opinion quite well.
