I have the BDP3000 then fortunately not be exchanged!
Meanwhile, Philips has enabled not only by a successful firmware update playing media via USB, but also, and this is much more important for me personally the "micro stuttering" eliminated.
Now I can fully and in good conscience recommend the player. Instead of me originally awarded four stars, the Philips BDP3000 gets now, without hesitation, full marks! I am very pleasantly surprised that it has managed to Philips, to heal the player from all diseases.
In early March 2010 I originally wrote the following:
Good device, but the so-called "micro stuttering" are definitely available in 24Hz playback.
I do not want to write an in-depth review now, of which there is at this point quite a few very good, the fundamental has been said several times. I would like especially to the phenomenon of short dropouts, some dubbed these "micro stuttering" utter.
I have since just over a week the Philips BDP3000 and have tested it extensively during this period. Bought have him to relieve my PS3, and thus incidentally also my wallet, because not to run for each application of the current suction from Sony. I've searched no multimedia monster that I have namely the Playstation already, but a player that plays CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays, quietly working and also not cost the earth! All met the Philips BDP3000, also fit visually well to my TV from Philips.
CDs played the BDP3000 from faultless, a drive noise is barely perceptible. DVDs are also reproduced almost silently, and the upscaling is really good! If one is a Blu-Ray a, the drive to vibrate significantly more than in the other two formats and will thus inevitably noisy, but absolutely alright.
And when playing Blu-Rays you meet the only shortcoming of the BDP3000: For 1080p / 24Hz on a Full HD screen (and only there !!!) sets the image every few minutes briefly out, there are a downright hilarious to two frames !
I have ordered me to Philips, though I've read about the "micro stuttering", and ignores all warnings. I wanted to get an idea to me. Believed Really I have not, at this phenomenon since often such rumors of bean counters and people who can hear coughing fleas, be brought into the world, but it is definitely there! I can not understand that some these dropouts do not seem to notice, as they are clearly visible. Here cough no fleas! Owners of HD-ready TVs, which have the attitude 1080i or 720p set, can use this phenomenon of course not observed.
Although my Philips supposed harmonize TV and the player perfectly, I've tested the BDP3000 to two other devices of friends, namely, to see a Samsung LCD and a Panasonic plasma if there some frames are swallowed. In short, the same game! Incidentally, I had none of my two middle Ster on the issue to draw attention, they quickly found out all by itself, why I came with my new players to them!
My BDP3000 incidentally works with the alleraktuellsten firmware ...
Right now I'm torn whether I should keep the Philips or not, because otherwise everything is just right on the device! The Dropouts occur not so often that a Blu-Ray would thus not enjoyable to watch. They disturb already clear, but perhaps only if one pays attention to them exactly and literally waiting ... The few frames at 24Hz swallowed playback are my opinion, not an absolute knock-out criterion for the Philips BDP3000, but all reason not full to award five stars!
