Customer Review

This album is in my opinion better than the highly acclaimed previous album Gothic and even better than the immediate successor Icon, although not quite as good as the album Draconian Times, with which Paradise Lost is a monument in the metal and gothic scene have created.
This album still is characterized by the deep growls of singer Nick Holmes, in which, however now is to detect a hint of melody. The songs are rhythmically very dodgy and slow, but still very melodic in the guitar work, although this comes very very powerful. Despite its heaviness, the gloomy litany of love, death, despair, loneliness and pain of sublime beauty, without drifting into the kitsch. Musically, the songs can best be compared with early Black Sabbath, both in the embossed greatly from Tony Iommi guitar work Greg Mackintosh, and in the pulsating bass lines, and the intricate drums. Absolute song highlights for me Your Hand In Mine, No Forgiveness and Mortals Watch The Day. The Death Metal Roots will leave slowly, but still maintain an eye on and you walk in the depths of the mire Doom Metal. A brilliant album that smells of candle wax and damp leaves. Cheers!
