This latest installment of too largely unknown artist is still a masterpiece. Tim takes out a stylistic turning away somewhat from the traditional country which is its soul, to say a little more pop-rock, a little dancing, a little singing, and he succeeded magnificently shot the guy ! An album that is clearly built for US radio, but which distils the musical happiness from beginning to end, and I hope, I really hope, will find all the popular success it deserves from the other side of the Atlantic, the land of cowboys and guitars.
The album is a carefully balanced mixed of southern pop-rock ("One hand, two part", "Felt good on my lips", "Touchdown Jesus"), country-pop sounding and stumbling ("Better than I used to be "), light funky-pop (" Right back atcha you "," Hey now, "" The One ".. that subtly recalls the good old" Little feat '70s), unclassifiable semi-dancing songs semi-ballad that take you to tripe ("Halo", "I will not fall dawn", "The one that got away '") and ballads deafening unequaled beauty ("Only human", "Better than I used to be "," Die by my own hands' "). You can call it country, rock, pop, or whatever you want, all that matters is that it is still and always the good and beautiful music with sublime melodies and irresistible texts as only true cowboys know how to sing them.
As for me, I melted completely emotionally on the track which opens the album, "Halo", that speaks with incredible tenderness and an unbearable lucidity the end of a love romance, this time the famous we must say but the words do not come out because the heart retains'. I found myself upside down in unimaginable spaces light years above the heavens on "I will not fall down," "The one that got away" and the incredible "Only human". In the latter capacity, as always, Tim knows how to touch the right chord, the one that reads the heart and soul, that which makes us stand and move in the wind, in the rain, beyond, far beyond that our physical forces could never endure.
This album is different, but Tim McGraw has not changed. He continues to give us still the best and best. It is like that, just a sacred damned cowboy generous, gifted with an extraordinary talent to sing the life, love and friendship, and to make the world just a little bit more bearable.
As he said himself in "Only human":
"Finding out you're only human is hard
I want to change the world
Goal I do not know where to start
And I am bold enough to believe
There is hope Among the Ruins
Finding out you're only human "
How lucky we are we, to have him ... So do not hesitate, I take the bet after the first listen you can not take off ...
