New Moon Ltd. Edition 2CD (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Less than two years after his somewhat unspectacular electric comeback "DOM" Joachim Witt comes in April 2014 with the new material around the corner. But not only that. Even label and personnel have changed. Oblivion published the whole thing, Michelle Leonhard is only represented at the edge and as a producer and co-songwriter now acts Mono Inc. Creative head Martin Engler. Providing cutting-edge sound rugs as usual very melancholic lyrics of now-65s Witt. Striking: The arrangements fall again significantly more opulent than the last, the strict guitar waiver of its predecessor has been lifted. And yet all this really does not sound like the old "Bayreuth" days, but on its own and somehow new, although the well-known features are of course out to listen.

"Stand up" for example, begins with a sad chorus which builds a bridge to theatrical "DOM" and then develops into a pulsating electro anthem. The sounds are to be extensively and free from any fear of kitsch. Anyone who buys an album of the hamburger, must in any case expect overflowing emotions. Extremely successful start with medium tempo. Here the dark Schimmelreiter is not let off the leash, instead you bet on a gradually increasing sense noise.

"Burning Earth" on the other hand is a knotless dance number for the charts. Fat synthesizer as not likely to be a stranger and scooters (which should not be construed as an insult) and a guitar-driven chorus. That's Joachim Witt in Perfection. Unbridled, passionate and full of despair. Actually, the perfect first single. Maybe the record company is the pop-affinity then something was too high. So be it. A bear strong sign of life of the former NDW-Stars.

This significantly slower "Until the End of Time" ensures not quite such a stir. Sad ballad, but is missing that certain something. Ripples a little to himself.

The single "My Heart", entirely written by Martin Engler, convinced however completely. Massive, emotional refrain and an exciting video. Joachim Witt are the squabbling husband who his disabled partner, played by Nadja-Marie Saeger, almost can not keep from suicide. Far from big budgets like "The Flood" or "Valiant" has become a pretty little house film that is sure to find a lot of friends away from the mainstream video.

"It's raining in my" stomping los unbridled and tears immediately. Sophisticated dance music, is that even possible? Here is the proof. If there is doubt on every dance floor of the republic and has lyrically nevertheless a certain depth. Stark!

The gebremstere "flotsam" kidnapped into the heart of the artist who "behind the dike weeps" because he is as uncertain as it may well continue. Very serious, adult Portrait with ultimately conciliatory character. Charismatic and moving.

The punchy synth bursts of "Without you" leave the boxes almost burst. Enthusiastic, expansive dance number that transfers the "Bayreuth" -Witt into the new decade and yet retains traditional elements. The only title at the Nadja-Marie Saeger is heard in the background. The most arresting piece of the plate and, as you highlight, because after the level slightly decreases.

"New Moon" is eaten away by self-doubt poem with musical accompaniment. Thought-provoking, without knocks musically.

This also applies to the average "late" and "Spring child". The beats popping and the lyrics are top quality, but something is missing.

The little wooden hammering "Your Song" ensnared one for his highly melodic chorus and the "rising" -Instrumentalvariation "sea of flags" like. It's going to opulent and bombastic, like in a movie soundtrack. Epic, almost majestic end to a surprisingly strong album.

Unfortunately, the bonus CD tarnishes the joy a little. "Hoping" (with Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance), "Autumn" and "96 days" to sound like most ambitious B-sides. There increasingly dreamy piano and string passages in very organic sound. Something different character than the main album, but unfortunately much more boring. Sounds like the work of a talented beginner, in which it has just not quite enough for the first Guard. After all the remixes are managed, especially the energetic "rimshot mix" of "standing up". And the touching "My Heart" -Unplugged version has its raison d'être.

Aside from the failed second CD shows "new moon" an aging pop star with the times, has still much to say. The compositions are indeed considerably less bulky than in recent years have become and often sound a lot Wolfsheim. However, this does not detract from its power of persuasion. Nice to Joachim Witt also something more is on guitar again. This gives the songs more clout and underlines the highly emotional texts. The uncomfortable cultural workers of yore waived this time fortunately on to political statements and renounced the vanguard almost completely. A scandal song like "Gloria" does not exist here. The connection with hit-chorus-engine Martin Engler enriches the songs also enormous. And with the high-quality deluxe edition including lavish booklet gets the listener once more a coherent work of art.

"New Moon" has become a straightes, fascinating and sustainable dance album, which is a pleasant intellectual counterpoint to the partially loveless mainstream productions of our time, even if it makes use of their characteristic sounds. Eighth place in the charts underscores. People want substantial music with depth. No one could thereby better serve as Joachim Witt.
