The image quality is compared with cameras in this price range - but no outdoor capacity - below average. The border areas are particularly at wide angle quite blurred and each better smartphone (with fixed focal length) is here at least equivalent. This is a typical problem internal lenses with larger zoom range (concerns AW110, AW120, etc.). The 24 mm KB-equivalent wide-angle are practically used for underwater filming. The central focus is good over the entire focal length range. White balance Nikon has a good grip.
The image sensor is a common 16 Mpix sensor, which quickly tends to noise due to the small size. Unfortunately occur also block noise "colorful borders", so-called. CAs.
The lowest set by the camera is ISO 125. The ISO range can be limited upwards in the camera.
The autofocus works quickly and reliably so far.
Video recordings are acceptable (have used 1080P at 30fps)
The app works in conjunction with IOs been quite good.
The keys are all rather stiff, and "squeak" some keys mean Is that just me? This is certainly on the seal.
The GPS Fix is fast as a smartphone if advance the A-GPS data from Nikon are loaded. Instructions and data can be found on the Nikon website (links are here not allowed).
Compass, barometer, depth sounder, GPS function are nice gimmicks and implemented user-friendly.
The sole-loading feature in the camera rather annoying. The charger is bulky. Why is no better solution, since it is but with the camera more likely to travel?
The rear display makes an excellent impression.
Sensible underwater case also cost at least 200 and are bulkier and more expensive to use. In one month I can then REPLACE a practice report for underwater use, even in comparison to other models with additional underwater housing.
