With "The Ockham's Razor", he shows us his new hero, Ari Mackenzie commander to General Information. This character and the other characters (Lola, Zalewski, Iris ...) are successful and endearing, even if they can sometimes appear somewhat cartoonish (see the guard of impassive body whose apartment is a veritable cache of weapons ...). Nevertheless, this does not diminish the pleasure of reading and finally integrates perfectly with the universe created by LOEVENBRUCK.
Amid esotericism and quest LOEVENBRUCK manages to build a plot and a set of credible and documented track, and always perfectly understandable. The author avoids falling into excessive complexity and the savings we also grim catalog of esoteric data. So LOEVENBRUCK remains humble toward his basic equipment and applies to his writing the principle of Ockham's razor (avoiding free display and egocentric !!! culture).
Then, even if the player sometimes seems to have a leg up on Ari (thanks to the points of view of other characters), the suspense is carefully maintained to the end (and beyond .. .). Indeed, LOEVENBRUCK cut his story in short chapters, enabling to inject additional energy and urgency. And again, LOEVENBRUCK found the perfect balance and does not reduce his story to an action scene succession (even if they are present) or suspense (though the tracks are numerous false). Thus, it takes time to put his characters (see Ari relationships with women, the path of the assassin ...) and tell his story (see historical data, going back and forth between point of view of the characters ...).
In summary: "Ockham's Razor" is an esoteric thriller quality, perfectly mastered by its author ...
And that really makes you want to dive in after Mackenzie's adventures ("The vacuum cathedrals" announced in the pocket edition 06/10/10).
A Big Thanks to Henri LOEVENBRUCK for his dedication during the festival DOCKS OF POLAR 2010 in Lyon ...
