The sound of the unit is very good indeed. Clear and from bass to treble everything in it, without one of them too strongly to stress. Compared I like it even better than that of my Samsung S8500 with lossless compressed FLAC files. I have the supplied earphones but not even tried, but like my Koss Porta Pro connected.
This means that the maximum volume is (with off AVLS) greater than I'll ever hear. At the highest level (9), it is already really unpleasantly loud. I usually hear between Level 2 and 3, max. 4
The bass enhancement works beautifully, is with good headphones but not necessary. With my strong bass Koss it pushes me on bass amplification stage 2 at a higher volume almost eardrums out.
The G-Protection also works very well, but can not, contrary to information in the manual off. They can be true "off" and the player then shows "G-off", but the fact that I still can beat violently for 40 seconds in my hand him without his jumps, shows that the mode always is still turned on. However, I can not see that this would have any negative impact on the sound (as is alleged in the manual.)
Whether you can actually jog with the player, I will report.
Battery life is fine. With my Sanyo Eneloop I have now heard by 9 CDs and so slowly they seem to be empty (even 1 line).
Noise levels have actually heard and also not very quiet. For classical music listening in private the player is therefore may not be appropriate. However, I would add (since I was not quite clear upon reading the reviews) that the running noises are exclusively mechanical noise of motor and reading head. About the headphones you can hear absolutely nothing, neither in quiet passages, yet in between tracks or whenever.
The here already mentioned memory function by means of which the player wins because after restarting, where he was off, very pleasant.
Negative I find really only the small and unlit display on the side and the bad labeled buttons. However, I knew that beforehand. The build quality is perfect for 40 in order, I think.
And most importantly - the sound - is really beyond reproach.
