No one doubts that the restoration because of the regular democratic model has oriented Ismard Paulin in his research: the current weight of the technostructure and national governments, regional and European is it an obstacle to the expression of the will of the people and therefore an obstacle to any change? In this study the functioning of the Athenian public services and administration provides a "model" original: it is not free citizens who are responsible, but of state slaves: the city and ensures the seal between elected public office, which every citizen can be called and execution functions reserved to a hand of servile work, were it high level. The insight provided by Paulin Ismard is original and illuminating, supported by many (and alive) and examples using the various fields (sociology, political science, ethnology ...) The desired anachronisms and comparative with other companies slave used with caution and intelligence. Exciting for lovers of Greek history, this book is well written with great interest the understanding of socio-politiques.En systems that it exceeds the "strict" part of an ancient history book, and fits in the tradition of French historians who, in the tradition of Vernant, Detienne, Leveque, Mosse and Vidal-Naquet, highlight the importance of the study of Hellenic cities for understanding our democracy.
