The CD cover, the moon with the projectile-rocket in the eye, is the general public more or less well-known image, as opposed to the film itself. Meanwhile, by today's standards very rapidly occurring action (6 men by said rocket to the moon shot, to the local residents behave towards quite wrong and must, hardly landed, also once again flee) therefore also reflected in the music.
For clarity, and because this information is unfortunately missing in the otherwise good editorial section: The short film has 14 minutes in length - and the entire CD album only about 31 minutes! Friends of cultivated submarining for extended periods should therefore be careful: this is quickly over.
Although this went well with the air early work Premier Symptômes already so (33 minutes of total duration), but fell in that album of re-entry into the atmosphere of reality quite hard, since everything extremely decelerated, quiet and unmatched cool then floated, and one as a rapturous audience had not yet set in the least to the end of the disc.
With Le Voyage Dans La Lune, this certainly does not happen! Air coming in the face of the compressed movie storyline simply much faster on the musical point, pulsating, with highly compact, partly vociferous interwoven sounds, with much more presence than before. Drumbeats announce at the beginning of the first piece Astronomic Club of the new gait. Also the following Seven Stars adopt percussion emphasized. Nevertheless, there are quieter pieces: Retour sur Terre would actually call. Actually, because much to my regret nothing but an interlude is 33 seconds. Moon Fever, settled as a 5th album title in the middle of the album, is once again one of these incomparably transparent titles of our friends. Even at the beginning of the finale, Lava, lets you take it wonderfully tranquil.
Air sound summarized still to Air The typical swirling keyboard passages, and the piano cascades, winding through the octaves, the occasional banjo accompaniment -. You quickly realize whom you are listening there. But it is the combination of a fast clock - some pieces run with accelerated pulse - coupled with loud, in a few places a seemingly formidable sound. This is where the differences for me have become most evident. Faster pieces are by no means a novelty of Air. In their clarity and density they step out of their previous sound framework. The attentive reader perhaps it may not be noticed that I am a lover of calmer air gait. Nevertheless, quickly found an access to this album. Therefore my recommendation: start with the film, after listening to the CD! Ergo should not exceed long before buying, but even better, the double CD + DVD to be gained!
To create the soundtrack for a French film, which is already more than 100 years old and is on such a pedestal of honor, is a daring Unterfagen also also very successful artists like Air. In particular, if one has long been established with his music and therefore often quite defined in terms of the expectations of his followers. On the one hand to escape this pressure, instead simply to be able to do what you want to do, is a major challenge for sure. But this task has been done not only worthy but very skilfully. In addition, this album can safely be heard very loud (which was previously not necessarily listen to my type Air). The sound quality can be described as orderly, so that the only real drawback to only the short term remains. For me personally, but it is insufficient for a star deduction in the B-note, especially DVD + CD after all, already give 45 minutes!
