I use the ball head offered here along with a Manfrotto tripod 055XPROB Pro and a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I use the tripod, both indoor as well as outdoor use. The B-3 ball head holding my camera with EF lens 2 kg in any angle and at any temperature (summer and winter). Two adjusting for friction allows an adjustment of the resistance to movement. Another screw fixes the rotation around its own axis. A scale on the shaft allows the reading of the rotation angle in 10 degrees steps.
I bought the head and on the recommendation of Traumflieger tests back. The price / performance ratio is very good! There may be the heads are even better, but then the cost more than double ...
