Predictable, brave Hollywood Music

By the Elves (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Faun was so far my favorite band. I even occasionally on the PC composing (trance, techno, Dream, with ethnic instruments mixed), I've often asked myself curious on first hearing of the new Faun CD: What would I now mix next to that? But by no means a string pad? But - well - that comes, and sets exactly in a typical Hollywood moment with the most boring, conventional harmony. Fiona's voice and the beautiful Recorders dares you to not more, "wear" the music itself to. A professional blender always provides just that all frequencies of the spectrum (20 Hz - 20 kHz) are always filled evenly - no joke: professional mixer (which I am not and will not be) learn exactly one hears the old. and the new piece "Andro" back to back on, you can see the change in philosophy clearly. In the old albums there were unexpected, unconventional combinations, possibly disharmony, expressiveness, and in particular consequence: Dark was really dark, pain really hurt, beauty was ethereal mystery, and everything was authentic. Recorders as instruments of pure wood now even have a slight roughness in the sound (air noise); similar to the acoustic guitar where you can sometimes perceive the sliding of the fingers over the strings as very fine squeaking. In technically perfect, customized Hollywood such nature sounds have no place, so Recorders and Fiona's voice and practically no longer occur as solos in the new album.
"From the Elves" is nice, but just not nice, nothing else.
