If You Knew Her (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Zara McFarlane is certainly not a jazz singer with a large spectacular appearance. But that is not necessary, because this album works so well. The sparsely instrumented opener "Open Heart" offers a discreet but accented voice. In "If You Know Her" for the first time classical jazz feeling comes on. Very nice piano accompaniment! The same applies to the beautiful "Move" that so delightfully unconcerned hovers there. With "You'll Get Me In Trouble" returns seen acoustically a little campfire atmosphere. "Police & Thieves" surprised with nice tempo changes. The two songs "include spinning Wheel" and "platinum Gold Ring" show impressively how far the vocal range of Zara McFarlane. In "Angie La La" the guest vocalist Leon Thomas impressed by the superb jazz voice that is somewhat reminiscent of Gregory Porter. With "The Games We Played" a formidable ballad is.
If you like a bit more experimental Jazz, can be found in "Woman In The Olive Groves" again.
A wonderful concludes with the ballad "Love"
Finally for me remains a top jazz album with an impressive voice and a varied repertoire.
