What I noticed positive:
- Very good workmanship. The housing is made of high quality plastic with small gaps.
- Relatively high weight prevents inadvertent shifting of the unit during operation.
- Good and matte touchscreen display with yet sufficient resolution and good response
- Great design.
- Volume control and power button can be operated very pleasant.
- Overall easy and intuitive menu navigation.
- DAB, FM and Internet radio stations were quickly scanned and found.
- Immediate, automatic firmware update.
- Indication of day, date, clock and alarm on the home screen.
- Display can be switched off automatically in the standby mode after a predetermined time.
Neutral:
- Sonorous tone, but sometimes seemed a bit musty. Can, however, adjust the equalizer on in limits.
- Fairly high volume can be adjusted without major cabinet resonances. In my view it would be more sensible to limit the maximum volume slightly stronger or make it more adjustable even for the operator.
- The unit took several minutes after the first connection, until it was ready. Initially thought it would be defective.
- Only two alarm settings. I would at least like to see even here a third alarm.
- The device should be able to certain page contents of DAB transmitters (eg weather information) automatically display while raising.
- For the reactivation of the switched display in standby mode turning the volume knob on at least two increments is necessary.
- Menu sometimes a bit flawed in German.
What I particularly negative noticed:
- Backlight on standby itself clearly on the lowest level to light for the bedside table.
- Just two crashes of the software that caused a reboot.
- In some menus seem to be working, not all buttons (especially the home button.).
- Despite the establishment of the alarm clock on DAB, I was awakened by a beep morning today.
Conclusion: 3 stars
For this price I the firmware or software is not yet mature enough. The backlight in standby mode should be significantly more dimmable. In the current minimum level, they will light up for a bedside use still clearly too bright. It would be advantageous, moreover, if the display in response to a pre-set time window in standby mode turns off or remains switched on at the set brightness level. Become Revo Pixis again reboot and see if his previous behavior improved (eg the alarm with beep instead of DAB stations) to today. If not, I have to him, unfortunately, probably send back what would be a shame, because it really really like me.
Update 1:
The problem with the Summer used in place of a DAB station while raising has done after restarting the Pixis fortunately. Meanwhile, the device does what I expect from him. I will therefore keep it well. It would I still have a firmware update that includes the following changes:
1. Display in standby mode to significantly lower backlight dimming.
2. One or better two additional alarms for more de- gree of flexibility.
3. home button of the alarm clock when you call the editing function in standby mode with the correct functioning of evidence.
4. improve German lettering. For example, it looks very ugly when a small button of about 2 cm width is labeled with the word "snooze" which clearly survives then. Here the English term "Snooze" would have been much better since eh self-explanatory.
Update 2: 4 stars
Did my rating now increased by a star. The Pixis RS has quite easily and quickly find all stored on my Synology DiskStation songs and albums. The operation as a whole is fluid and functional. The partly existing problems of the German menus I'll probably work around this by I use the English language. Has take the above under Update 1 improvement potentials as much not changed.
