Difficult in advance to decide what size you need the cushion. Women are often cope with the S size. But that is dependent at home by the interaction with the rather soft or hard mattress. I have a medium-thick mattress (still rated as hardness 2) and feel it is not so well supported by a pillow in S as indicated by the in size M.
