Epson Perfection V330 Scanner (4800dpi, USB, photo scanners, Scan to PDF) (Personal Computers)

Customer Review

For a long time I have been looking for a solid scanner, I can also run on 64-bit Linux system and indeed with most other setup options. Before ordering, I was not quite sure whether the device can withstand even my expectations / hopes.
Now he is here and works perfectly with my Linux together; scanned paper, slides, negatives (almost) all kinds and shapes can, adjust itself, delivers on what you set.

Very successful is the accommodation of the slide / film template. And stowed snapping in the cover, as it does not interfere and they are always ready to hand.

The device works on Windows and on Linux quickly and well, only for high-resolution scans of patience is called for. For normal home use a very Fre solution; also suitable for both beginners and the experienced. The included software can be operated intuitively, leaves little to be desired.

Only the placement of the power and USB connector is an annoying flaw: You are the front of the key range, which means that the strings running at its normal statement of the desk. In but one can overlook given the price and the rather impressive quality.

The results of my first scan with middling resolution are - to my peep - stunningly good. In particular Dias (Color / B & W) seem to be a specialty of the device. Very convincing, what I got to see! The negative scan is also quite good, but here some manual work is needed, as I have often glued on strips of paper negatives; and caution is advised when clamping in the film frame (but still goes surprisingly well). Even the negatives of an old roll film with oversize in black could be read with some skill with acceptable results.

Another highlight is the way of the 'pull' cover: to scan thicker documents (pages). I need not, some other might.

Otherwise, the unit is well made, the template is, however, quite delicate and wants to be treated gently and with tranquility. Plug and power supply in usual good standard.

So in short: The device I can recommend very good conscience for beginners and advanced as well as for those looking for a good scanner for operation under Linux (32 or 64-bit).
