The Pentax SMC DA 12-24mm / f4.0 AL is the only Pentax lens that wide angle to 12mm goes down (except the Pentax fish, but that is not wide-angle!). Since me repeatedly but failed to meet the 15mm of my Limited, I also had gained me the Pentax 12-24mm zoom. Compared to the 15er Limited 12-24mm is a real Klopper. The lens is in direct comparison really big - the filter diameter are 77mm. The Steulichtblende the lens needs also really a lot of space in the camera bag. If you want you can the Pentax SMC DA 12-24mm / f4.0 AL as I said also use 77mm filters. Should be used to vermeindlich vignetting but Slim filter. Not all ultra-wide angle lenses offer the opportunity incidentally. Especially with landscapes I use a polarizing filter for example like to order more beautiful results. The results with the Pentax SMC DA 12-24mm / f4.0 AL make me very happy, the autofocus is fast and stays with you and also the results of the pictures are with the lens are really good. At the edges, there is CAs. In the lower focal lengths, there is also a slight barrel distortion, but that is not entirely uncommon in the focal lengths. Which can be either but if you want to compensate directly to the camera or to the computer. In backlight conditions, the lens is also quite umempfindlich and the results are really great. For filmmakers, it may be interesting to note that this lens has a continuous light intensity at aperture 4. I think the lens is a great landscape and architectural lens that gives me a lot of fun. I have 5 photos attached to different situations show, including backlight and also a dark environment. None of the images was somewhat reworked. Was only kleingedampft the image so that it fits in with Amazon.
Conclusion: All in all, the Pentax SMC-DA 12-24mm / f4.0 AL a good lens. The picture quality is really good, and with a little practice you will also conjure up great images with the lens. The price of ~ 900EUR is certainly not a snapper, but one must also say that the lens is really good.
