The Via 135 has a very thin body, earlier TomTom were usually quite "thick".
As with the TomTom Start 60 holding the solution seems supposedly innovative, the holder is attached onto a tilt swivel fixed to the chassis.
The device has a position sensor and rotate the display by 180 degrees, depending on the installation position.
Unfortunately, the whole thing is one drawback; you always have to dismantle the entire system and can not simply once the Navi take out of the holder.
Very inconvenient if you use the Navi temporary / needs.
Also the charging cable must be plugged so very awkward.
The 5-inch display has a good image quality and is sufficiently large.
Of course, no comparison to the 6-inch display of his "relatives", because if one has both devices on.
The software and operation of TomTom I find very good and structured.
Here I have nothing to complain about.
The voice control works pretty well, not perfect but other Navi's are there now also is not necessarily better (eg Falk).
The Bluetooth function (connection to the mobile phone) works great.
With my Nokia E72 the communication is perfect.
The integrated loudspeaker has a voluminous and good sound.
Unfortunately, I discovered the same as the TomTom Start 60 in use accurately and that really bothers me.
Also at 135 Via satellite aiming lasts incredibly long, so extreme I have experienced really still with no other devices.
I have a windscreen heater (VW Sharan, new model) and these shields apparently actually somewhat.
When I run the unit in the open air reception quality is much better.
Nevertheless, here are other Navis are better, I was able to test a few months ago 2 Falk (NEO 450 and 550 PUR) and Navigon (92 Plus).
This all had no big problems with my windscreen heater (the best reception quality had here Falk).
While browsing the falls that the device somewhat "lagging behind".
The Falk and Navigon are already mentioned here clearly timely, almost in real time.
So it's definitely better!
Also the lane assistant on the highway is not plausible for me.
Visually this is shown indeed quite appealing but also the Via 135, I noticed that the notes are illogical.
An Example; I drive on the highway and have 100m before me a departure on a different highway.
The Navi says: "at 800m keep left!"
In 800m is another exit!
Why ignore the Navi the first highway exit and only points to the next motorway exit, I would have to remain at the first exit and left?
Navigon and Falk do better or logical.
Conclusion:
Unfortunately, I also convinced the TomTom Via 135 is not very.
Definitely not a bad Navi but unfortunately with some weaknesses.
For this primarily include the weak satellite reception and also delayed navigation need not be.
Also, the fastening system is too complicated for my taste, I also want to quickly dismantle times a mobile Navi.
My ideal; the size of the TomTom Start 60 with the functions of the Via 135 and with good (fast) satellite reception.
Without delayed navigation and an innovative bracket, from which the Navi can be quickly taken out once.
There were 5 stars from me!
