Reim Strikes Back

Reim Strikes Back

Seven Pounds (Fan Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Matthias Reim is one of the musicians I still like to listen to today and even though I'm so notorious as pop fuzzy. Although for me rhyme never really fit in the pop corner. He was too edgy, the texts on personal and intimate. In Reimmann was allowed to cry, he spoke to the men of the soul. This made him unique. And now we are somewhere else, in another world. For rhyme celebrating his resurrection and went to the rock men are warriors in a whole new direction.

Rhyme comes with this album in the mainstream storage landscape. The music never settles somehow correctly, it makes use of several genres and is varied succeeded. Even if one already finds well-known melodies, as mentioned in other reviews. But as the saying goes, better well stolen than badly copied. On one side is the pity, but on the other adheres to the disappointment of the album still limited. One is the whole but in any case: Mass and party-compatible. And I think that was the purpose and meaning of the thing. In this case, it has been possible, somewhere the money has indeed come, and with this track you can easily get a lot of new fans on board and maybe even hold a majority of the old fans. Whether it will succeed remains to be seen the next album.

The texts have shocked me a little. Here the pop kitsch breaks herraus literally, everything looks so great and beautiful. It is geschnülzt, gesülzt and hard at the pain threshold texted it pulled up my toenails. Gone are the macho lyrics, honest lyrics with a personal touch. Everything comes across as clumsy said a hundred times and honestly. It lacks the old fire, the old energy. Here is weakening the album to really every song. But that is the price, so the uncomplicated lyrics fit just fine into the music and keeping everything on a party and Massentauglichem Level. Funny, is rhyme earlier also managed to be suitable for mass production with demanding texts. Well, that makes one think. But perhaps forcing an age also adapt.

Seven Pounds is a new beginning, a departure from rhyme to new shores. The one will hate it, love others. I admit, despite my rather negative criticism 3 stars, because not everything is bad. If you can abgewinnen mainstream hit anything but the album has quite its strengths, old rhyme fans will be bitterly disappointed and turn away or hope that it gets better again with the next album. Top Pre-listening and then strike or not.
