Hach. What the times have changed. The concept of interactive film has vanished, but - and now begin my actual review - I dare to say that I finally found on movie level here the essence of an interactive gaming experience.
Main actor: Nathan Drake. A figure that apparently comes from the same pedigree such as Indiana Jones, Allan Quarterman or Dakota Harris. A thoroughly likeable, horny adventure and swashbuckling treasure hunter halt.
Unmissable while his sidekicks: the buddy who always brings him out of tricky situations, the lovely female companion and a primal evil opponent or a story, where gold-obsessed Nazis play a small supporting role.
So much for archeology Adventurer clichés and so much about what Uncharted - Drake's fate is to find it.
But now it gets interesting. For here also already completed my intermediate tone ironic, because what Naughty Dog has delivered with this game is real madness, because ...
... 1.) It is delivered here an absolute feel-good package for more mature gamers. You get namely really beautiful game even Art Galleries, making-of documentaries etc. provided free (and not outsourced to an extra disk that came with only one extremely expensive Collector's Edition). The whole thing is wrapped in clear menus, each chapter of the game is freely selectable and the menu background ripples bombastic orchestral music - in other words: even if it's a game, so everything looks like a movie from a Blu Ray or DVD! Toll!
.... 2), the game is very sublime, with regard to the story. Beautiful, albeit predictable, plot twists are there available - real-time calculated cutscenes that can inspire hellauf of the histrionic (animation technical) side and then the whole scenes. Greenest jungle, gray Ster, modrigster concrete bunkers, steep cliffs, darkest catacombs and so on. A Farberguss following the next. If the whole combined with Naughty Dogs Level design experience is the almost 15 hour long experience again enjoyable.
.... 3) the gameplay is nice. More just not (more on that), but it is easily accessible from the control - it's fun to find the right way ("Tomb Raider 1" Feeling - though not quite so openly from level design wise) and the coverage game in the arenas the game invites - at least me - always the (also new) games of each chapter one. Attention: here is not blindly running towards the enemy, but the fights have some tactical touch. Where I take cover? Which two weapons I carry around with me? Dear go to melee or rather the 9mm pistol, can be found for all lots of extra Muntion. A clear, fun plus for me.
.... 4) there's a not insignificant replayability! There are the trophies - as the individual treasures and then there are all the things that you yourself acquired over the sommit can buy in-game Achievement Points (new outfits, other graphic renderer (very interesting) and and and).
.... 5) and then stop the technology. No tearing. Great animations. Sharpest textures (rare that such a splendor with detailed maps you can see somewhere). Interactive, nuanced orchestral music. All together: a game that would earn the title of "interactive movie" truly, in my view.
Unfortunately there's also a couple of really fun Kill the end things for me, but they are all still to get over somehow:
... There would often fixed camera that was specifically set not always optimal from the developers at leap passages.
... There would be the most technically lame implemented melee mode. Most come you do not even within reach of the enemy to land a punch - the virtual bullets have umgelöchert one after a few seconds.
... There would be the matter of Nathan Drake's penchant for suicide. After jumping from a rock in the middle of the waterfall's can be, for example, that when landing the alleged suicides simply a Millimiter too much in the wrong direction automatically aligns (you can often align as players nothing against it and has the death leap simply watch) and thus the next life-saving stone edge can not access / may / should - it's just sad and hair scuffling!
Still, the game is a single buy recommendation. So be it, that you finally want to play the predecessor to the second part finally, be it about that one needs a flagship benchmark for its new PS3 (even if the game one of the launch titles was) or be it about that one from the last Indiana Jones part somehow verarscht has occurred and finally looking for an expandable alternative figure to Harrison Ford (Nathan Drake was in fact really knocked together very sympathetic Never were verbal Jammer land beautiful of the main character in games, as here;.))
In short, in every respect the highest score !!
