Hello There!
I do not write very often reviews for products, but because the search for a reasonable Mediabridge very expensive true, I want to do at this point other users a help.
Why I have chosen for the Netgear?
Priced seen it is in the middle range of Media Bridges, however, has a low profile design and promises high Wlangeschwindigkeiten through 900N.
I compared many bridges. Even a CT product I bought in order to better be able to compare. In addition, I had also the DAP-1522 from Dlink here for comparison. However, the Netgear went here as the winner.
Brief comparison:
The DAP-1522 has Glan ports. Can it achieve such a good connection as the Netgear. Moreover, nowhere can read the Mbit / s. Only over the Fritz box was to realize that the DAP has not really in harmony with her.
First of all: The whole depends on a Wlan Fritzbox 7360 by AVM. 2 Netgear in use. One in the living room (about 5m distance) between them with reinforced concrete wall. (Plate) The other 6m without obstacles, but is the right to our freezer. So rather suboptimal. Distances are not great, but there are many other WLAN networks might interfere.
Positive:
in super transmission and reception power. The Fritz box says both are driven with 300Mbit / s (more creates the FB not) and both Bridges report a value of 250 to 300 Mbit back. Top!
-very stable network. So far, I actually only had problems when someone has massively disrupted the frequencies in the neighboring purchased. But this is not the fault of the bridge and could be fixed by changing channels quickly.
-Internetspieletauglich. My ping times have not deteriorated by the change from LAN to WLAN. Excellent! (Rubberbanding so short Lagspikes were rarely observed)
-VDSL50 And IPTV no problem! The FB gets everything out of my line and the Netgear create as easy to keep up. Downloads with over 6.5MB / s are no problem for the little black box. Even television from the Internet was not a problem. I only had to chop set in the Fritzbox optimize for "wireless network for IPTV (or something similar). Seldom it comes to short jerks. But since I do not know whether misses the Fritz box or the Bridge, since the problem after a few seconds or switching is continued again.
-Easy Setup. Connecting, press WPS, never ankucken again. Set & Forget in their pure form)
-Mediastreams Are no problem. I watch a lot of anime over the network. Whether 720p or 1080p, the supply Netgear without bleating. But not quite as advertised. More on this below!
Neutral:
- Initial installation may be hakelig. And if you want direct access to the Netgear (which is not necessary basically). There was a few times in my unit so that [...] (Configuration page) can not be found. Simply restarting the unit helped here, once you're in there, just to assign a fixed IP and the page will be found in future without problems. This is by the way very easy as the Netgear simply enters the last incoming data from the router. For me the Netgear router was a click and a click.
Negatives:
-Something Rubbish of the computing power. Who needs programs that require many connections will be slowed down here sometimes. Too many simultaneous Verbdindungen (from about 200) the performance of the Netgear drops noticeably, since CPU and Co no longer keep up. Remedy is only a lowering of the number. For it seems to me 100 to run without problems.
-NO GLAN PORTS! Oh man. Here Netgear has slept genuine. This is also my biggest gripe. To build a device that full 450Mbit / s creates with the right router, but can only 100Mbit / s output is just silly. Clear falling on only rare, but is advertised that 1080p streams should absolutely not be a problem. Are they not as long as the bit rate just this is not too high. I'm no expert but this stream, I have observed:
I stream from PC (via PS3 Media Server) on my PS3. Ergo PC -> cable -> Bridge -> Wifi -> Fritzbox -> WLAN -> Bridge -> cable -> PS3. What I have observed is that once the bit rate, the display on the PS3 to 100 Mbit / s is a stuttering occurs. For me, as a layman here is simply that no longer fits through the port. Even at 720p there was this problem. If you want to stream stuff with deviant bitrates, rather then look no further. (Tested with the first episode of "Kill la Kill")
Conclusion:
Netgear would simply require 10 times more here and it obstruct more computing power and Glan ports, so this would be the perfect Media Bridge. So however rather mixed. Still, I think she's still one of the best, if not the best Mediabridge multi LANPorts. Am very satisfied so far!
ADDENDUM: respect for the new firmware xxx.32 !!! For me it came up with this constantly disconnects and this morning to one of the bridges had totally hung, since nurnoch helped restart. A zurückflashen to version xxx.26 went fortunately without any problems! :)
Regards,
Robert
Update:
Both WNCE4004 now both are defective. Both in the same scenario. The unit was in the living room and provided the media receiver of Telekom, a Sony PS3 and PS4 and SmartTV. All went well for weeks until it is too sporadic connection drops came when you wanted to watch Youtube or streams from the PC. I do not know if the device is simply not designed for long duration. Have now a TP-Link hang. Let's see how long DERS makes ... (habs with 3 stars leave because I can not close to 100% at a hardware defect)
