The youthful enthusiasm with which Romy Schneider reads the texts to each chapter is incomparable. I have heard other recordings which were also good (the versions of Heltau, Conrad), but those are just adults who read a children's book. When Romy Schneider you feel, you're in the middle of history sitting on the tree around which the wolf circling, flying with the birds in front of his mouth around. I have as a child never "Peter and the Wolf" is one, so I do not have the nostalgic access other reviewers. My daughter (almost four years) is well done as I did.
