On January 31, 1980 Tangerine Dream gave a unique concert at the "Palace of the Republic" in the former GDR. It was the first concert of a Western "Rock" band, which could take place in the GDR. Not to mention, this concert was the first in which the band in the line-up Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and John Schmoelling occurred - a list that so far as the strongest line-up ever Tangerine Dream designate many fans. Pergamon includes the complete second set of the concert (a total of about 45 minutes). Due to the previous version of the record set in 2 parts ("Quixote I + II") was divided, which further is not tragic but because the pieces to a suitable point off / are displayed. About the music: Quichotte Part 1 is riddled with issues who've been listening to the album "Tangram". However, these are so greatly changed that any holder of "Tangram" need not doubt whether this CD worth. The piece begins with a piano. However, after about 5 minutes of this piano-section goes into quiet electronic sounds. These act somewhat like improvised jazz: Easy confused and aimless - without sounding inconsequential. After about 11 minutes then starts a significantly rythmischerer part that fades away at the end ... Quixote Part 2 acts contrary to Part 1 as one long improvisation! While an electric guitar conjures improvised melody that electronic equipment put the piece a strong driving rhythm. Pergamon offers in its overall picture an incredible genre mix, which is not described in these rules. Everything blends together. Even the strange combination of classical piano, ambient-like electronics, retro music and unusual rock improvisation leaves a in this album forget the differences so that you get the feeling to hear a single long piece. This CD is not effective if you do not take for 45 minutes, the time. If this is done, however, so you get an explosion of innovative music. The only thing there was fault with the CD, would the plain packaging - but that can get over.
