After initial charging of the device on the PC took me first to the bright screen and the simple and logical operation of the device positively surprised. After the necessary adjustments were made, it then went to the first test ride in the nearby area (we live in Provence for several years). Now came the big surprise, because the Navi did not lead me as usual on the normal roads, but constantly (though still paved) side streets, where it was hardly possible to cross another car. OK, I guess I must again go through the parameters of the device: However, the settings were, car, fastest, shortest route and avoid not dirt roads. Again we went on a test drive, unfortunately with the same result. Through woods and fields, ideal for cyclists, but totally useless for motorists. An inquiry with Garmin has revealed that there is no way to tell the device that you want to avoid very small one-lane roads. Unfortunately so: device back! Now I have the last few days the Tomtom Go 6000 and the route guidance function even here in the south of France, properly and to my complete satisfaction. For me, the experience with the Garmin nüvi 2699LMT-D EU is still a big mystery.
