Customer Review

Erosion of biodiversity is an issue that the media often treat around some emblematic species of large size. The author extends the discussion one hand all the ViaMichelin wild and domestic species and secondly to the diversity of peoples and human cultures. He explains in particular how agricultural and industrial policies developed outside of nature we quickly sink into a sad Anthropocene.

Interesting and original idea of the author is to treat the subject in the light of the discoveries of Darwin and Levi-Strauss. Some agricultural and industrial policies in effect deny the principles of evolution and coevolution of species and thus destroy ecosystems by reducing the diversity of wild animals and plants. Many of animals and domestic traditional agricultural practices should also seffacer races before the aggressive methods of multinationals. Finally, the most biodiverse regions are those where many ethno-linguistic groups. The destruction of these regions lead to the disappearance of these people (and vice versa) and with them their languages, cultures and knowledge.

ViaMichelin sinsere discussion in the framework of general history of our species whose author as a paleoanthropologist is an expert.
