inside the housing (actually thin and pleasant to handle), there is a disk-M201RAD ST2000LM003 HN (1863 GB) of thickness is 9.5mm standard: EXCEPTIONAL for a disc that capacity. In fact, it seems that the drive is manufactured by Samsung on behalf of Seagate but whatever. The disc is not recognized by my laptop ASUS NV76 under Windows 8.1. After numerous tests with other computers, other systems on which it is recognized without problems (as the BACKUP +), it is clear that the problem is with Windows 8.1 system MY MA machine (especially, that have a dual boot with windows 7 pro, then it is recognized!). I took the risk of opening the case to extract the disk and put it into second disk on my computer: there, it is well recognized and for over a month works TB: silence, capacity, performance (see file seal; good performance also depends on the processor and the computer chipset). Icing on the cake: I now use electronic adapter that was in the box to connect on usb3 harbor any of my other discs "flying" 2.5 "(in fact, it took me a few hours to succeed to make clear that my windows 8.1 had better recognize the electronic interface "Seagate Backup +" that was in the box;!. it got to my satisfaction) Of course, I could have put my old computer disk in the case and use it as such but I prefer to use the adapter outside of the housing question of taste! So in summary this disk standard thickness but with an exceptional ability to 2TB - In its housing is cheaper (+ 10 difference) that the disc sold without housing - In its case or out of its case seems to work very satisfactorily (it will of course see the reliability in time ...) really seems a good deal.
