I admit that I had heard from Obscura until recently nothing. A Review of the album "Omnivium" sound then but so interesting that I pre-ordered and that got me the release date immediately. The preliminary review had not promised too much. "Progressive Death Metal" fits here as a style name probably best, the music is brutal, but very detailed. Every musician of the band seems a virtuoso on his Intrument to be: The guitar riffs are polished, the brilliant and often leads to very melodic death metal, the bass lines are absolutely insane and the drumming is simply terrific. Here, Obscura but never lose in pure Frickeleien, the songs are not overloaded and stay (at least for someone to listen to not only radio-friendly Popnümmerchen) always understandable, without losing moments of surprise. The song alternates between growls, nasty nagging and occasionally even clean vocals. Of variety there is certainly no shortage, every song is a work of art. Anyone can start with harder metal something should have heard "Omnivium"!
