I put it in relatively high (5m) to avoid too obvious malice, with a meter of cable to complete the illusion. The red LED flashes very slowly (every 1.5 seconds I would say) enough to show that the device is operational.
I installed the two AAA batteries required but not included, however I have not enough perspective to judge the effectiveness of the solar panel.
Just one detail: the silver coating / aluminum is relatively fragile and can be easily removed.
