From reality I was then but a negative surprise. The pictures were even in the center of focus, not to mention the edges or even corners throughout. In addition, significant CAs particularly in the border area. Everything seems like blurred. Also Fade brought no real improvement.
Since the very different reviews pointed to a strong variation within a series, and I really did not see any alternative for the Sony bayonet for the price and specifications, I have summarily two additional copies of the same lens ordered to go to the series spread on the ground, and with the intention to keep the best of it.
A relatively stiff zoom ring, which is described in some reviews, I found the way in front of one of the three lenses. In two other ring running soft and supple.
The picture quality, I then partly with and partly without a tripod and some with manual focus in three focal lengths compared (10mm, 15mm and 24mm). It came clear qualitative differences to light for me. Although the three copies of significant blurring could be seen in the border area and the "best", but the expression of uncertainty was very different. The best example is characterized with an open aperture significantly better sharp than the worst case aperture 8 or 11. The third is somewhere in between. Granted at 13x18 can see the difference yet, but at 100% already clear. For the discrepancy me is in any case so great that I am very satisfied with the best copy for the price with the imaging performance (4-5 stars), while the worst clearly not in question would (1 Star). Had I accidentally caught the middle, I would thus probably come yet clear.
My conclusion: if you caught a good specimen, then you can live with it just fine as a hobby photographer in a poor rather not. So also be careful with the purchase of returns, because since the likelihood is even greater, to lie beside it.
However, at the same Sigma scattering phenomenon appears to be. I had the idea to try several copies of a review of nearly twice as expensive Sigma 10-20 / f3.5. There, the same experience was described. Other manufacturers and high price thus protect not before this quality problem.
