--- NOTEBOOK:
The Acer Aspire 1825PT 1825PTZ has for the small difference that a weaker processor is installed, but it does not present any major disadvantages for office, home and Internet applications. On the contrary, because due to the small 64MB graphics card, a larger processor would play technically do nothing. From the speed fro HD movies (720p) smoothly and even the Abode Photoshop CS 5 (not supplied) starts and runs very fast due to the built-in 4GB Ram. In particular, the hard disk is full enough with 320GB for a small notebook.
With three USB ports, Bluetooth, HDMI output interfaces are enough to replace the missing optical drive or to connect an external hard drive. Who for mobile surfing (UMTS / HSDPA) has nothing against an Internet Stick, comes with this notebook handle completely.
It's also nice large keyboard which also has a small relief to the Mousepad brings to start with, as long as you get used to the touch screen, by the way, always leaves also display a small keyboard.
However, a lack of this notebook is the sound quality. With the flip screen is not as good as larger Acer Aspire notebooks. With the display closed (to use it as a Tablet PC) will also still dull. Too bad, because what bring me HD movies with low-quality sound ... but headphones or external speakers are a solution for this.
--- TOUCH:
When I touch was pleasantly surprised. It is important: It concerns here a capacitive touchscreen (like the iPad / iPhone)!
Short explanation: There are capacitive and resistive touch screens. The difference between a capacitive and a resistive touch screen is that the resistive on stronger pressure of pins and fingers (such as the Acer Aspire 1820PT) and the capacitive is dependent on the electric charge transporting the finger and the screen.
Advantage of capacitive touch screens is the fact that the fingers just above the screen "slide" and thereby also the standing screen for easy operation is possible without the display folds by excessive pressure on or backwards.
A disadvantage of capacitive touch screens is that they can be operated with a conventional stylus or gloves only with the naked fingers or very specific input pins (so far worked only very roughly), but not. Wen restricts the high resolution in the operation, the font size can make to 125% and so work easier without sacrificing quality.
A bit annoying is the reflective display. Outside in the power saving mode when the sun shines, the notebook is good for almost nothing, because you can see much of anything. However, this is a fact which has long been controversial issue and therefore should be taken into consideration before purchase - at home, but in the auditorium and in cloudy weather, I had no major problems.
The necessary support brings Windows 7 with the same, so the virtual keyboard and a few finger movements help in easy operation.
--- Battery life:
I wanted to first do not believe, but it has also been confirmed with me: The term of the notebook actually arrives at the promised 8h. Although the term is reduced in "balanced" setting to "only" 6 hours, but you can reach easy 8h operational time in sleep mode and simple office applications.
One catch, there are still: Recharging takes time (about 4-5 hours), but you can, of course, the notebook during which continue to use the AC adapter.
--- Weight:
The only real complaint I have is the weight. The case as a "ultra-light Tablet PC" advertised notebook with his 1,7kg not "ultra light". The weight goes after a certain time on the arms and can not be very long operated freehand - even while lying down, I had to support it.
It is true that at that weight of the battery a large share, but who wants the notebook already have continuously without battery on the power supply? However, if you like I can make friends with it, setting it down on to the bed or table, for even the no exclusion argument is supposed to be.
--- CONCLUSION:
The lack of recovery DVD, the relatively "high" weight, the reflective display and the rather poor sound quality can be a few feathers, but the fall is not too negative. Thus, the notebook gets a total of 4 stars from me because it nicely portable, fast, with a high resolution, long battery life and a good touch screen (in which you look at times but wants a pen with big fingers) is equipped.
