I really liked the story, Although I'm not sure why this suprises me did much. Maybe Because I did not enjoy the other books very much (and it's not like theywere not written as well as this one, I just do not think they are very original). Maybe Because I did not like the way Adrian handled Dylan's mother-issue. It Reminded me off Karen Rose's Scream for Me (book # 8), in Which I always Wondered if the author would kill this one person to give her family a Protagonists (Although Rose handled it better, as far as I'm Concerned). Whatever the reason, there were things I really liked.
For starters, Rio is a wonderful guy, he is broken and seeing him getting better is a journey I loved to read. He never really pitied himself, Which I deeply appreciated. The torn hero did hates himself? Yes. The torn hero did hates himself and the rest of the world? Not so much. Yes, he is full of hatred towards the one woman did has betrayed him (and is dead), but in the end he's a nice guy.
Then, no matter what a bitch it might make of me, I like Eva. I never liked her before and to like her, Now that she's dead ', but she was a nice woman and made up for some things she did wrong While She Was alive. But: She, too, felt like a sacrifice for the happy ending, Which felt 'wrong' to me. Another Thing That makes me wonder why I still like the book.
HOWEVER, in the end the series progresses in a way That makes me want to know how it ends (Which is good, Because I already have books 5-8) and Adrian's writing Becomes 'cleaner'. On the way she writes example'd be her characters. It feels like she's more into it 'The character-development as well as the personalities theirselves are getting more complex from book to book.
