Many critics of this book is considered by many as one of the pillars of fantasy; While many elements argue in favor of this story. A gigantic universe with its own cosmology, its magic, its various component species and numerous events that disrupt this relatively quiet world (the arrival of invaders from another world the Tsuranis) but on the other side than clichés: very classic races (elves, dwarves and warriors living underground, humans, goblins, wizards, trolls ...) and the use of absolute cliches which for me have some curly sides overdose . Let me explain, the hero, Pug, which is followed in this first volume is an orphan (of course) good at magic whose honesty, honor, the desire to do good are at the limit of ridiculous. Thus, we find this brave Pug at the beginning of the book trying to accompany the princess for his ride on horseback; trolls arrive and listening only to his courage, Pug eliminates the trolls and the father of the princess to thank ennobled. Anything less and you wonder why a young apprentice magician is at once powered bodyguard to the princess. On the one hand, therefore, very good ideas and other hackneyed clichés. To be continued.
