Carried to Dust (Digi) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

You just make a documentary about life away from the big cities in Arizona and Southern California and do not have any idea what kind of music you will take as a soundtrack? Listen here to a look, then you have found you.

Carried To Dust is a very beautiful drive and offers the usual Calexico sound - ie a mixture of the folk of The Band, Ry Cooder Southwestern antics and the laid back feeling of JJ Cale.

Best funtkionieren Calexico when they tell them something gloomy atmospheric slow songs; then this music is really over emotionally and not just as a tasty accompaniment music for the next California vacation. DC 3 wonderful pieces there are in this style of those man made lake 'the best and one of the best pieces of Calexico at all. Work well the Mexican-inspired songs with Mariacchi winds - although one noted here that they are big fans of Ry Cooder - but just loosen the rather quiet mood of the album on pleasant and are also composed great.

Speaking of quiet mood: that does not mean that the songs dahinmäandern boring or tough; some songs are supported by an airy lightness that stunned; in others is indicated how Calexico could listen in rock context, as in the great Tornado Watch; and Trigger (Revisited) sounds like anyway Filmathema to a forgotten spaghetti western.

A thoroughly captivating album ie from which one can say with complete justification that Calexico for what have perfected their sensitivity a song needs. As varied as Ry Cooder on his last album they are then indeed not, but a lot of detail-and a trace of deliberate at the arrangements.
