"A week away" is a cross-section of everything Britpop had to offer so (rather Pulp or Lightning Seeds- as the Oasis bar). Cool numbers with great melodies throughout. The album was then praised by the critics, and the lack of success is probably as I said due only to the Britpop weariness of those days. Because the album was and is just great! "Is not great to be alive" or "We're going out" are only representative of all the other songs mentioned - hymn-like Pop as he can only come from England (the only hangover is the flirtation with the then just all modern conveniences Easy Listening Revival, "Best Ballroom," which is rather meaningless). But unlike so many fans, I think "A week away" and everything what the band still publish until 2006 should not Masterfully, not particularly "special". It's another good Britpop, but not soooo outstanding as is often claimed today.
One must be honest in 1999 matched "A week away" not quite. Wärs appeared five or six years earlier 'would the band now on a par with the heroes of that time - but compared with, for example Pulp or Blur cut then but underperformed. Spearmint are good, no more and no less. They are the 90 band of the 00s. This may explain why the band never became known. They would have been more worthy of attention.
