Darkness On The Edge Of Town (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The Rolling Stone called it one of these albums, which fundamentally changed the way in which we listen to rock & roll. Under Springsteen fans is an absolute favorite, sometimes this stunt is but unfortunately overlooked something. It is in my opinion the best album of the "Boss", perhaps together with Born To Run and Nebraska, "Darkness" but seems even more of a piece and contains absolutely no weak track.
The planned title track "Badlands", this name would have the album that is also intended to carry, is one of the best rock songs ever, also because of the text, and is like no other for the "Boss". To date, the majestic, powerful rock song is a central point of the live shows and his lyrical mix of despair ("You wake up in the night / With a fear so real / Spend your life waiting for a moment / That Just Do not Come"), defiance and hope ("We'll keep pushin 'till it's Understood / And thesis badlands start Treating us good"), runs through the whole album. Another highlight is Candy's Room, where Springsteen varied structures and provides as on the entire album presents his qualities as a guitarist to prove. The E Street Band is on "Darkness" at its best. From vineyard bass drum to Fredericis organ, it all fits. So also with the beautiful "Racing In The Street", a favorite of Springsteen's songs as he himself says. In lines like "Some guys They just give up living / And start dying little by little, piece by piece / Some guys come home from work and wash up / And go racin 'in the street" shows the contrast between darker despair, but almost optimistic hope.
The remaining on Born To Run optimism ("I'm pulling out of here to win") seems almost vanished, Springsteen now describes no longer the romanticized youth living on the coast of New Jersey, but the (often sad) American reality, working life, the family, broken dreams, because "Mister I is not a boy, no I'm a man" (The Promised Land). But he does not lose itself in the hopelessness and make it especially thought-provoking topics in incredible, powerful songs to transform. To this end, consider recordable, the text lines "Tonight my baby and me we're gonna ride to the sea / And wash thesis sins off our hands" (Racing In The Street) or "I wanna find one place, I wanna spit in the face of thesis Badlands "(Badlands). So the flight is on Darkness On The Edge Of Town yet possible, because "I believe in a promised land."
Another classic of today still works live is just the triumphant-sounding "The Promised Land", where the harmonica is used. The sad, beautiful "Factory" Springsteen wrote for his father: ". Factory takes his hearing, factory gives him life / The working, the working, just the working life" Highlights are also the second single "Prove It All Night" and the brilliant title track. How many emotions of the "Boss" sets here in his singing is very endearing and makes "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" to one of his best songs, which is also played regelmäig live.
Total represents the album one of the highlights of creativeness Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and draws for me at least with his landmark Born To Run the same. Similarly is "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" to be described as having the best thing was to rock music of its kind ever recorded, it is simply one of the best albums of all time
