Then my child the iPod is dropped into water and the battery is destroyed. Basically gratifying that the unit was still functional otherwise. Normally, one would now buy a spare battery, replace it and be happy that the accident has gone so smoothly. Not so with the Ipod Touch. The unit is in the sealed bombproof and can only be opened with special tools. The battery is then buried under the entire rest of the electronics and you have to disassemble them to be able to then remove it with a soldering iron. Heard quite right, the battery is soldered to the board, while most other components are assembled. The dealer will cost the exchange between 60 and 80 euros. The guarantee had expired and in any case after I'm not quite bastlerisch clumsy, I have a battery of 4, - Euro and the concerned Spezialwerkeug and ... the screen destroyed at expansion. The adhesive with which it is attached is simply too strong and the display too sensitive. Well, blame yourself you can say.
After I am capable of learning, I wanted to let the camera that was damaged during second Ipod Touch swap the dealer. But: That can not make because Apple, according to the trader does not provide spare parts. The device can only be completely replaced and that costs almost as much as a new one.
I find it intolerable that I as a customer do not even have the opportunity to have the unit repaired, let alone himself as perform simple repairs such as battery exchange. So good can not be the Ipod that I will take up an Apple device again. As a substitute I have now bought me no Ipod but the smart phone from another manufacturer.
Conclusion: good device but repair rip-off and lousy customer service.
