Characters:
Clarissa, Clary short, is a small, petite redhead who is not of the gab. She loves New York and spends time on holiday, preferably with her best friend, Simon. They like visiting clubs like pandemonium, where it has the feeling of being in another world. When she actually travels to another world, they want it only not have true, but adapts faster than anyone would have thought. She is strong-willed and brave and can not even dissuaded by a pack of vampires from saving her friends and family.
Jace is a Shadowhunter who has learned the hard way that the love is not a place in his life. In addition, his father he preached that love brings nothing but pain. His life is marked by discipline, honor and fight, and he's talking about a saying that it is the life that he would choose again at any time. He looks good and knows it, he will never tire of pointing out. His big mouth work partly reflects his Naturel, but is also a useful facade.
Own Opinion:
To mark the film starts I thought to myself that even I, a picture of Cassandra Clare bestseller "The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones" must make. Of course, my expectations were high and I can safely say that they were as good as fulfilled.
The writing style is very comfortable, loose, light and fluid reading. He is so smooth that a 500 pages as 300 occur. Unfortunately Clare has so detailed and dry descriptions that any imagination in the bud will smothered and I somehow many could not even imagine, though at the same time expired a movie in my mind, of a few "blind spots" had every now and then. Counting the epilogue to the novel is divided into 4 sections and is told in the personal narrative style.
The characters are varied and complement each other so very wonderful. The different personalities collide again each other in incredibly humorous war of words that bring them closer to the reader only. They are charismatic, personable and so authentic that they give life to history. Especially Alec and Isabelle are so different and non-transparent, that one never knows what will surprise us next time. Ever have the relations, the connections that bind this strange little group, so complex that they give you the perfect material for a good story.
And that's what you're gonna get offered: a fast-paced, consistently exciting story that never gets boring. Always new dangers and adventures await the young hero, which demanded so much. It is not just about good versus evil, where many who are apparently 'evil', turn out to be "good" and the other way round.
Classic Jugendbuch you get offered a love triangle. Here you can not even make Clare a reproach because this constellation in 2008 determined not so "Swallowed" was. Fortunately, this has so far not particularly focus, where the novel end promises much more of it. The real love story, however, is super sweet and not too intrusive. It's not the sudden large, forbidden love, which is at the center of any action. On the contrary, it results rather casually, offering a high entertainment value.
The cover fits both to the genre, as well as to content. It stands out from the crowd, showing both the "Gloomy" and the playfulness inherent in this novel.
Conclusion:
Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones" is a promising series opener, is worth all the recommendations thoroughly. I was now not exactly blown away, but I felt well entertained and expect great things from the rest of the story. Charismatic characters and a fast-paced story make this novel and so feel the 500 pages just like half of. 4/5 books!
