Civilation Revolution is a successful turn-based strategy game for consoles. I have tested the PS3 Version 1.30, previous versions are not known to me. About performance problems or crashes I could not complain in about 25 hours of play.
So you can classify my review better, I should probably say. I've played extensively Civilization 4 + addons on the PC before. So compared to the console offshoot I noticed of course especially one on: the simplicity.
Across the board has been simplified here, which begins before the actual game starts. In the main menu you can not change to a handful of scenarios this half except the difficulty of opponents.
So begins each game with uncommitted 4 counterparties. The game world is in contrast to the PC counterpart smaller, which does not really stand out for disturbing. The fact that there is just only 4 opponents, and the flow of play was purified ansich, of course, is also a great game world almost superfluous.
In principle, you miss nothing, but the devil is here be detailed.
So for example, there barbarians - but this will not just walk through the world and plunder, but sit around on their little rubbish tip and can erase from a Stone Age warrior squad.
However, did not alter the "nice" villages. Wild animals were also removed. It is therefore virtually no longer necessary to protect its cities - unless you're of course is at war.
Where would we be the next point: The AI opponents.
The AI is acting, in principle, of course, quite wise to welcome what, on the smallest of all levels is no more than a colorful spot on the map, which now and then threatens. But acts of war are rare.
Diplomatically, there is no longer much to do unfortunately. Who remembers the exuberant trading window Civ4 will be disappointed here. One can not even swap technology - except the players it proposes. Unfortunately, these are rarely particularly lucrative trading opportunities for us as players. One can act neither maps nor arrange open borders - for me a really totally deviant incision.
Economics.
The economy in Computer Talk is almost utopian, it may be money that is spend only (toll Baubeschleunigung) or take none. Troops cost? Taxes? Wrong! The monetary part was removed almost entirely.
Random events no longer exist. Natural disasters, Mineneinstürze, etc - all gone.
The player has not even more control over the work crews - We make then especially the first few laps as quite tiring.
Of course, Firaxis has done but also things well. The road has been simplified so you just have to build roads between places, which looks even more beautiful whole "at the end". The multiplayer element I have also not yet tested - because I'm not the type. Overall, the games are also shorter and unfortunately end up binding for a win - endlessly no longer there. On the other hand there is just no longer emulate, because the world is fairly constant.
You can see it quickly. When Civ veterans here you will indeed entertain quite yet but it will be very well maintained, especially if you just have no more Civ4 - like me. Lack strong PC :)
Who Civ4 was too complex, will be very well cared for. The game is now much beginner friendly and easier - the difficulty matched well - in my eyes.
Civiliziation newcomers could get a foothold in the turn-based strategy. "Just one more turn" - seems also very very good. :)
There is, incidentally, a very insightful demo on PSN Store !! as well as some DLC packets between free to 3.00.
