I so loved "When Nietzsche Wept" appreciated "lies on the couch" and "Method Schopenhauer" I was disappointed with this novel which I do not understand the issue elsewhere. Spinoza certainly is an exciting philosopher. Bergson said that the two philosophies were always his and that of Spinoza. Certainly, his philosophy can fascinate a therapist by his clarity of purpose: a philosophy of joy is not nothing! But this imaginary biography is very low; discussions with Franco, the new Jew, very lags with depth of the oeuvre Spinoza and the questions it opens beyond his interpretation of the Bible. When the Nazi party, apart from the question of personalities analysis possibility also disturbed that of Rosenberg, which is actually a good question, it remains very inconsistent. The link between the two stories, the fascination of Goethe to Spinoza that becomes an obsession for Rosenberg, is farfetched. Fiction therapy itself is not credible probably because poorly developed. It's like having a novel outline without yet well argued point of view, but the novel still writing!
