It is probably not possible to root for my current state of knowledge, the tablet or be accompanied by a "custom" version of Android (eg CyanogenMod). In forums I read that on the Toshiba AT200 probably the uploading of Fremdfimware active "locked boot loader" by a so-called Prevent and it also no way would the boot loader with the manufacturer help "unlock" to. (Other manufacturers offer this at least.)
Therefore, since the future benefits of the AT-200 is foreseeable severely limited, I rate currently on the purchase and sink accordingly the vote.
If, contrary to expectations in terms of updates but do something else, so I update this review again change course.

Reasons to Buy:
-----------
The tablet had the same done to us, slim design, appealing display and all the required connections. This is in the price range (we paid about 380, -) is not self-evident. For other models, either the (Micro) SD slot or / and USB was missing. Also, the HDMI output was otherwise seltenst encountered.
We have purchased the product in the store and on the occasion also devices the competition (I remember without wishing to devalue Sony, Motorola, Asus, Samsung, Apple) taken in hand. The Toshiba I liked both in the combination of price / performance and connections. But said to especially the "gut feeling" her.
Another positive note was the fact that in my unit a 2-year-old was included warranty by Toshiba. (What's no longer a matter of course these days)
Updates: (Last updated on 03/07/2012)
--------
Directly after purchase in May was a "little" software update for the tablet (from 3.5.) Available. After all, Toshiba takes care well in principle to the software maintenance.
Meanwhile (03.07.2012) is finally upgrade to Android 4 (ICS) available. Thereafter, the user operates again much smoother. A nice point is also that after updating from 3 to 4 desktop, apps and data and settings are preserved.
The ICS update motivates me now to a rating increase to 4 stars. The missing star is the poor communication of Toshiba Germany owed thanks to the update in Germany now quasi arrived as a "surprise".
Here's to the performance:
-------------------------------
- Android ICS 4.0.3 (since 3.7.2012 by "Service Station" Update OTA)
- GPS! Yes it has a GPS receiver and compass and also work. (Although the Toshiba website will refrain.)
- 10.1 "screen with 1280x800 pixels and (of attitude) automatic brightness control
- Very thin (7.7mm) and very light (approx 530g)
- TI OMAP 4 processor, 1.2GHz, dual-core, lies in the performance well above minimal Nvidia Tegra 2, but significantly lower than Tegra. 3
- Micro USB OTG socket for OTG-compatible USB flash drives, memory card readers, keyboards + mice but also PC
- Micro-HDMI jack for TV
- MicroSD / SDHC / SDXC memory card slot for manual up to 64GB (SDXC)
(Which I have not yet explored)
- 2 cameras, microphone, 2 speakers, 3.5 mm jack
- Maturity somewhere between 6 and 8 hours in permanent use
The tablet itself has no 3G / UMTS, but allied himself without hesitation via WiFi with my Android phone, if the had the hotspot / tethering feature enabled.
To bad start:
---------------------
On the second day, the screen suddenly black. Even the standby switch and connect the power supply brought no improvement. A smartphone users would now time taken for testing purposes the battery in order to trigger a reset, go here but not ...
The next day I took the device again from the box and as it responded nevertheless with LED flashing on the power button. After a short loading process it was also switched back on and everything was as usual.
What happened was probably? Android was abgesemmelt (should not happen, but it is) and the power button, which is so well queried via software without function. Within hours until the next day, the battery voltage (despite black screen) current device was probably so much that therefore the unit automatically (finally) has been turned off.
Since I recorded an update via the integrated software "Service Station" and the problem has never occurred again. The support by the way, I had emailed on Sunday on the Toshiba support site / contact, referred me on Monday with friendly unsuspecting words on the 0180 support hotline (0,14ct / min) (which I have not been used to date).
Among the other mentioned in reviews caveats:
-------------------------------------------
- "Waves" on the display when pressing on the back: I could not find so far.
- Visible Touchscreen matrix: in sunlight actually easily visible otherwise rather not.
- Flickering in the display: I had to start that right the status display on / off flicker, for whatever reason. After the software update is no longer occurred.
I noticed the small on / off switch to be uncomfortable. Might be wider or more favorable position.
Conclusion:
------
The device currently works well. The performance is alright. As far as I'm satisfied.
