As a child, Abraham was a paraplegic until he got one night visit from a mysterious stranger, who introduced himself as a magician. He heals Abraham from his illness, demanded of him, but in later years a not certain even closer consideration. In adult years, Abraham has built a solid stand life and is taking steps to start a small family. But then the magician reappears ...
Oliver Döring has been leaving at John Sinclair anything but idle. Apart from the successful Star Wars radio drama series and its complex end time vision in End of Time, he has just published on his label Imaga also the first part of The Border, are told in the self-contained stories. Now he puts two of the pact with the death, which was re-staged with excellent result. Even the first scene with the young Abraham provides an eerie mood that pervades also by the rest. Again and again there are scenes that appear very dark and menacing. Unfortunately, however, the story is not as strong as in the first part. While there have catchment found numerous innovative ideas, has been re-mixed together in the pact with the devil familiar admittedly but in high quality and with always ominous echo. In addition, some of the characters develop differently than you would have expected at the beginning, making sure there is at least for a few surprises. Not exactly innovative, but a good zusammengestellltes and excellently staged radio plays.
Also contribute to this the speaker, many famous and popular voices unite here in front of the microphone. As (adult) Abraham's example of wonderful Dietmar miracle to hear, with a keen sense of timing and treffendem expression delivers a successful performance again. Thomas Nero Wolff can leave work impressive and scary with his very insistent, cutting sound his character. Joachim Kerzel can be heard as the narrator again, his passages he can implement entertaining and sleek, the mood is enhanced by it. Other speakers include Udo Schnenk, Antje von der Ahe and Anja Stadlober.
Oliver Döring and his team have once again created a very coherent and forceful implementation of the story, both enters into an inseparable symbiosis. Be it menacing sounds in the background, harmonious and appropriate melodies or loud noises which support the typical Döring scares, everything seemed very harmonious and lively.
Very good, I like the cover, which is hard to beat in gloom barely. Groove at center the main subject stands against the black background from the simple but appropriate lettering. You can see the pungent, red glowing eyes of the magician described in the radio play, surrounded by gray, wrinkled skin. The rest of the design is quite basic but contains all the necessary information.
Conclusion: The gloomy atmosphere and the excellent production to support the story well, which does not always work really innovative or surprising. From the first scene an eerie mood is mediated, that runs through the whole plot and can increase.
