The main topic of Jane Austen, that of marriage, is set up in the first sentence: "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single equipped with a large fortune must want to marry, and so little lon know his feelings in this regard, WHEN IT comes to a new residence, this idea is so well fixed in the minds of his neighbors that they consider it at once as the legitimate property moon or the other of their daughters. " It also shows us the talent and the irony of Jane Austen. However, this issue is not unique as many think.
Other issues are equally important in this novel. As said earlier, the prejudices are indisputable place in Pride and Prejudice. Whether the side of Mr Darcy, Elizabeth or the entire village of Meryton, first impressions are always good when in reality, only a true knowledge of the person allows to correctly place his judgment. Also, it is a question of money and social status. Differences rows are clearly visible in this story but the pen of Jane Austen shows us that there are good and fools in all classes.
The irony of Jane Austen is probably what is most appreciated in Pride and Prejudice. Between Mrs Bennet, Mr Collins or Lady Catherine de Bourgh, one is well served. These passages offers us Jane Austen are a delight to be read without moderation. Moreover, the story is well constructed because there is always something new which is not expected. We travel in England, we have fun, we like to imagine being in the place of Elizabeth Darcy face. In short, the status of masterpiece is fully approved.
