Then I stumbled upon Alive 2007, which confused me a lot with its mix from their first three albums, so more Discovery and Human After All Homework. The sounds that were unknown to me put me aback, then I got used to hear this mix of sounds from different eras Daft Punk ... So listen to original albums, which made me both rained (no offense to some).
This is where the teasing Random Access Memories, which makes me thing, because a new Daft Punk album when I have only just exploring the ancient opus already out! I had noticed the different musical directions taken by each patty with a general guideline signing Daft Punk tab at the bottom ... So I was expecting something much different to what we know of them.

We love:
- Introduction Give Life Back To Music, especially early on starting a flying guitar riffs and Nile Rodgers, very catchy. In the end, it seems that the track never really took off, and the end is a little too long, but as the start of the album, it suits me, preparing what happens.
- The Game Of Love, smooth, I like to compare Something About Us It appears to me as a result of the budding love story told in the ninth Discovery runway. a story that ends badly in RAM, resulting in a separation and a palpable sadness. The vocoder makes us feel that Daft Punk reached one of his goals: to make a more human robot; you get to collect a human sensibility behind a robotic voice, and I love this. Some will find the small track, flat enough, and they have a little reason, but at the same time, I do not care about the opinion of others!
- Touch, which is similar to Bohemian Rhapsody Daft Punk (as I had read it somewhere, I liked the comparison). A disturbing, unknown start, pause, once, then a start in a delirium orchestral rhythm and again a slower cruising speed to find the optimum speed at the end. Over eight minutes punctuated by several changes of pace and intensity making the dynamic track, I plussoie.
- Beyond, which is aptly named, because the atmosphere of this track reminds me of the state of mind in which to be a crew in the middle of a long and perilous journey: the cleat but anxious, curious but cautious the unknown. Beyond is easily listen with his leading pace.
- Fragments Of Time, the second collaboration with Daft Punk Todd Edwards, where one feels a predominant nostalgia. The keyboards and drums are quite effective, with the more rhythmic electric guitar, bass and background battery makes the most interesting track.
- Doin 'It Right, almost exclusively of percussion track (electronic or otherwise). Panda Bear's voice, the vocoder and a discreet keypad slide on this composition Assembly repetitive me at first, but in the end remains in the head after listening. It makes you want to move!
You will love:
- Giorgio Moroder By where the person evokes some key passages of his artistic life on a musical background way trip spatiotemporal nine minutes. The Moog is our friend here, but I fell in love with the transition beginning at 5:15. - Lose Yourself To Dance, a haunting track at a reduced tempo, whose atmosphere, instrumentation and voice of Pharrell Williams suggest a sensual dance in a hut at the edge of the beach, under a setting sun. Nile Rodgers presents a compelling riff behind a seductive crescendo vocoded voices intertwine.
- Get Lucky, their first single, which had done so much talk at its output. Small flaws that I found the radio edit (too short intro and transitions in particular) are gummed on the longest album version two minutes. It transpires funk of the time with a current production. One can not help but dance to the guitar Rodgers, rhythmic bass and voice of Pharrell Williams (yet). We can find the end too stretched and repetitive, but I do not get enough.
- Motherboard, an overall atmosphere quite heavy, disturbing, as a result of the trip to Beyond (previous track) that went wrong. Instrumentally varied, always asked and keeping its battery platform for articulating the other sounds around. Pleasant to listen.
- Contact with the first single sample of The Sherbs which adds the voice of Gene Cernan, commander of the Apollo 17 Mission, speaking an unknown object in space ... The sample is perfectly organs selected, and then begins the final trip to the speed of light, with special mention for the battery, completely crazy and devilishly effective throughout the track. The album ends on a long static noise and false contacts (one of the meanings of the title, as you may have guessed). One of my favorite parts of the album!
Maybe we will like least:
- Within, the thread will never happen to convince me, it looks like the track never really beginning, the whole is too soft.
- Instant Crush, which repelled me most for his voice. It looks like yogurt during the refrain and the overall atmosphere of this title did not touch me, so small penalty.
For those curious, I advise you to quickly search the Internet (unless you have 50 to pay) the bonus track of the Japanese release of RAM, named Horizon. A slow and melancholy ride, starting with an acoustic guitar (who would have thought) and then gradually building with guitars, keyboards and the final on drums. She also closing the album very well, making us feel sadness and nostalgia looking back in the album. It is already late and RAM us with its heartbreaking goodbyes géniallissimes synthesizers and electric guitar bottleneck (zavez seen, I know the technical words!). My top 3 album, for sure. I found the ending too short, so I lengthened the track myself to enjoy it in 5:31 minutes. I invite you to listen to this great title that is a very good complement to the album.
Overall, not many negatives out of the album so. I'm not one of those people who think that Random Access Memories is or is not of Daft Punk, I am one of those who appreciate or not the music for what it is, no matter who the artist created. And hey, it's not completely stupid to say of RAM it does not look like Daft Punk? I mean, it's Daft Punk who wrote this album, so in theory, could not be more RAM Daft-Punkesque than it is already ...
