Customer Review

If I had to compare the music of this album with physical activity, it would be like to crawl through dirt, mud and sheep-Aa. What the captain and the newly formed Magic Band pull here is a masterpiece of monumental size that most people will never develop. Too hard, too hard to torn to zerfahren this music. -And Still lights up with each of these takes, way in the back, a magical light that shines on the whole, perceived dissonance and the listener whenever he wants to put unnerved the headset aside, enveloped in a kind of magic and continue to listen to him exactly why leaves.

One can single out any song in this work. Allen is this wrong-headed magic is based. Sometimes, as in 'Hot Head', 'A Carrot Is As Close ...', 'Sue Egypt' and 'Flavor Bud Living' act which takes a little catchy. They form little islands of peace, between the disjointed, onrushing with brute force 'musical monsters' as 'Sheriff Of Hong Kong', 'Best Batch Yet' or 'Dirty Blue Gene' (what a pun!).

What initially also helps the difficult music of time, the unusually lyrical, partly Dadaist texts of the Captains that come to bear on any of his albums like this are on.

'God please, fuck my mind for good

Making love to a vampire with a monkey on my knee

oh fuck that thing, fuck that poem ... '

That distinguishes 'Doc At The Radar Station' also clearly of the still incoherent acting 'Trout Mask Replica'. One can these two discs do not compare, because in the 'Doc At The Radar Station' play, maybe apart from wrong 'Telephone', no free forms of music or free jazz elements a. Basic patterns of Van Vliet's music remains the Blues. Then he and the Magic Band rely on a confusing, as composed of different puzzle pieces soundscape that seems, as I said, sometimes catchy, but usually full to its apparent discord. But it only seems that way because this sound is arranged so complex and sophisticated that you, you have got one belongs in this album, no longer gets her mouth in amazement to the smallest detail. Since then dip suddenly riffs ('Sheriff Of Hong Kong'), which capture the listener literally. -Fantastisch!

With 'But At The Radar Station', the Captain has once again outdone themselves. Still, I can the normal music consumers (if he lost here) only advise you to stay away from this disc. She leaves with unloaded people a deep bewilderment, they then may lose never and can only think with prejudice to other CDs of the Captains. No, whoever unloaded trusts to respond to the music of the captain, which is served really better with the 'Unconditionally Guaranteed'.

But those who like to come back to something more difficult music apart, who may already be the 'Mirror Man', 'Clear Spot / The Spotlight Kid' or 'Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)' calls his own, which can be trusted even to this masterpiece ,

Time into listening to, so to speak, to crawl in through dirt and mud, is enough. The captain will take no more music. He has broken many years ago. It's a shame, but you have to respect that. Today he lives, more and more withdrawn, in a small settlement of Mojawe desert. It is, incidentally, since his art studies in the 1960s, a gifted painter, whose pictures still express today what he also tried to express through his music.

-I That people pay tribute to my highest respect!
