The opener "Just one of those things" shows where musically with this album the rubber meets the road: principally in the very top.
Hard to describe, but easy-to-date and somehow also again very classic - A wonderful blend of pop, jazz and swing.
What given me great pleasure that Jamie is sometimes allows small Stimmkiekser (at times "I'm all over it" listen carefully), rough and soft can sing and a total so not ironed comes along, such as colleague Michael Bublé on his new album.
"I'm all over it" is one of my favorite songs on this record. A happy song that animates to sing along.
Equally bad, "Wheels" that with driving snare beat and a repetitive Pianoriff is a real firecracker.
Before you can digest as this handset hit, one gets with "If I ruled the world" also a highlight served. So todtraurig, almost colplaymäßig (* sorry * somewhat limping comparison) has Cullum rarely heard. For me one of the ballads of 2009.
But Cullum makes "You and me are gone," the same for that you can not be too melancholy: hot-hot-hot.
What Cullum has then started with "Do not Stop the Music" by Rihanna, is incredible. I have constantly thought: I know it. Could not assign but. Until I found the riddle, I was addicted to its version already hopeless. Like on "Everlasting love" the singer is also here that the covers of songs they simply means nachzusingen, but that you can fill the songs with new life and new feeling. So a song a classic! Rihanna may be proud that their degrees not badly sung hit, in this refined version shines again in completely new splendor!
"Love is not gonna let you down" is a little bored, therefore, but it comes with "Mixtape" a very fresh, brisk song hintendran, the sounds however very Cullum untypical.
"I think, I love 'is a song that perfectly fits the atmosphere here in a cozy bar (Cullum pur plus piano)," We run things "with his highly supercooled Beat and the somewhat strange chorus needs a little until it catchy, but the third or fourth hearing the song ignites properly!
"Not while I'm around" is also advised a little boring, but lives of Cullum's great voice that cuts a fine figure even in the deep Spären. "Music is through" is then a somewhat atypical but worthy conclusion. because it is precisely such "experiments" show in my opinion also the versatility of an artist!
For me, "The Pursuit" one of the albums of 2009 (the good ones come somehow always at the end).
Jamie Cullum melodies haunt me at night in a dream - and there are definitely no nightmares!
