Last words are always special and shattering. "The Jesus Record" is such a thing as the "last word" of American Singers and Songwriters Rich Mullins just before he came in a tragic car accident in 1997 killed. He could work no longer accomplish themselves and bring out his "Ragamuffin Band" and some big names of Christian pop music have done after his death with this double CD. Mullins sings the loving, humble, non-violent, suffering Jesus, who nevertheless met the reality. The formulated by Mullins prayers come from the depths of many harried own existence. Songs as interpretation of the Bible that invite meditation and ultimately prove pastoral size. A few days before his accidental death Mullins sang a band with 9 songs demos in a church on a simple recorder. Modern audio technology makes it possible that these rough drafts are well listenable and could be released as a CD 1. And far from all elaborate arrangements, the texts open up much more immediate. Without this 1st CD to me the work would be a bit too heavy and country would no longer be this charm. CD 2 offers the pleasures and musical companions re-recorded and completed work. The last track, however, the edited directly sung by Mullins rough draft "That where I am, there you may be so" and the CD closes with the short intoned "Nothing but the Blood of Jesus", of Mullins on the so typical for him dulcimer itself played. For this double CD is rounded off to a successful and moving tribute to the great artist, without letting up his innermost concerns in the background.
