How best to describe this album? Does it sound to the harsh tones of "Apocalypse"? Or rather to the melodic sounds of "Dreams of a night"? Or maybe like the balanced epic "In burning heavens"?
Well, in my opinion, the present work includes all just named properties. One gets dark growls and shouts, but also comforting to hear clean vocals. Times seem a harsh and brutal riffs, sometimes shallow and like. Some songs are mid-tempo range, others are a little faster.
The individual songs, I do not want to devote myself to this point. Everyone should experience it and form his own judgment. But one thing I do not want to leave unmentioned. Positive noticed is me that is that SE here textually (at least from time to time) of the subjects 'doomsday', 'battle' & remove 'war'. This is dressed like a red thread through the contents, previous albums; which was not bad, but slowly you might want to listen but as inclined listeners other stories. At least, it is with me like that.
Anyway - I like the fourth album of Obsession very good. And I would be really happy if the band finally could now start her first headlining tour through Germany. Apart from its sole gig in Stuttgart last autumn they were so far "only" present as a support act. Therefore, it would be great if now an independent tour would be scheduled.
Conclusion: 5 stars for this! Although I must admit that my "In flaming skies" currently still a little better like it, but this may well be that open up completely a some songs only after repeated listening. In addition, I personally would another ballad (see. "Lullaby") once again very satisfied. Who knows; perhaps already in "Empire II" next year? ...
In any case, guys, keep up! You are on the right track! Rock on !!
