The perfect game for a rainy weekend

Alan Wake is for me the perfect blend of action, mystery and horror elements. Mich has the uncanny story arg captivated and I found it quite exciting at night through misty forests to strip abandoned mines or deserted campsites and always on the lookout for the - armed with all kinds of axes, knives and other blades - "possessed" to be whose sudden appearance (often set atmospherically by small camera movements and the onset of music scene) me quite the odd shower chased down the spine.

Of course, returns to the twentieth or hundredth attack on the one hand, a certain routine one - but on the other hand: in which game is not the case? Although the fighting against the possessed constitute a majority of the action, there is here quite a change: sometimes you have to fight any poltergeists, sometimes particularly recalcitrant (heavy armed) opponents, sometimes they come in large groups (sometimes one must also find a little bit tactically, eg., by the use of larger headlights), sometimes only isolated instances of someone with ner ax out of the bushes on, there are attacks of birds, attacks from machines, etc., etc.. I found the action on the whole, therefore, quite varied, well, at least no more or less than in comparable games. Sometimes I lost a bit of track, because it was practically attacked from all sides with axes or knives (silly when doing still stuck in a bear trap and you run out of batteries ...) - but just situations like this there were then also at the end, who cared for me for the corresponding thrill.

The atmosphere of the game, I find fantastic. In a scene it is, for example, on the terrace of a house and while admiring the wonderful panorama, pull on the horizon suddenly slow clouds and you can hear a distant rumble gradually uses wind, bushes and fir trees begin to sway in the gathering storm, the sky darkens more and more, you go back into the house, while outside the storm and the darkness rears ... Just well done! The graph with lights looks impressive, although I must admit that I did not find the look of the characters so intoxicating, partly the faces already seem a bit stiff and lifeless, which in my opinion, but through the exciting story that great designed landscape , the music and the camera pans well done is compensated.

I really liked Alan Wake. I would not say that it is a "milestone" in the games genre, but it's well done and provides an eerily beautiful atmosphere. Easily the best game for a rainy weekend: Unscrew system, dim light - and immerse yourself with Alan Wake in the eerie world around Bright Falls.
