Einizge Negatives:
- Plays (still) no DVD menus from (license problem?)
- Problems integrated in films AAC audio tracks
- WMV9- DTS is only via HDMI / optical out looped through, the decoding must be done externally (eg Creative Z-5500, no downsampling to stereo)
- Remote Control a little sluggish (but I feel less disturbing)
- Connected devices are not mitabgeschaltet (power strip is recommended), the "problem" could however be resolved in the future
- No LAN support (USB -> LAN is however with custom firmwares)
- No internal memory (which I find not bad for the price)
- DVD drives can be connected only with Custom Firmware
- Minor bugs that are hardly worth mentioning
Otherwise, the benefits are huge:
+ 1080p Files of any type can be played (AVC, MOV, MKV, WMV, ...)
+ 24p runs flawlessly
+ Power Consumption 6 watts during operation, device is only lukewarm
+ Two external USB drives connected (1TB problems, SDHC and USB flash drives> 4GB no problem)
+ Perfect picture and sound quality
+ Small device, small remote control
+ DVDs as ISO will play without menus, subtitles and audio tracks for all
+ Price / quality awesome
+ Truly play just about anything from tested (with MKV [720p / 1080i / 1080p] AVI [Xvid / DivX], MOV [Apple 1080p trailer], MPG [MVCD, VCD, SVCD, ...], other x .264 / H.264 derivatives, MP4 [480p, 272p], ...)
+ Mehere audio / subtitles no problem
+ WD works well with the community together
+ Great thumbnail support for the latest beta FW (film.avi | film.jpg + ...
CONCLUSION: For the money a bargain and still a technically excellent it! May WD continues to hone the box, but even with the current firmware, the device's tip!
