The album has its strongest moments, whenever one thinks SW`s to hear other mainstays. Although a categorization in drawers is this album does not do justice, but I still tu`s times to give those interested an idea.
"Harmony Korine" as an opener and perhaps best piece sounds a little like a condensed version of "Arriving Somewhere ..." (ie PT anthemic rock). "Veneno para las hadas" with his more ambient-heavy character could have come from "No-Man". "Significant other" would have made a great "Blackfield" piece (but here with female singing partner and reared up at the end to a Shoegazer-Wall-of-Sound a la "My Bloody Valentine"). "Insurgentes" is then PT (known in the style of piano ballads). Only for these four pieces is worth the purchase.
"Only Child" with his dark, multi-layered vocals is also quite pleasing (a little goes towards gothic rock). The rest of the pieces contains more or less large amounts of experimental / Psychadelic- / Industrial- / noise rock. Here Wilson used including electronic elements (eg, trip-hop a la "Massive Attack" / "Portishead" in "Abandoner"), can Remineszenzen to Krautrock, "Radiohead / Thom Yorke" and "NIN" recognize and sets several times to Post -Rock-typical loud / quiet contrasts that can ever get out of hand in some strenuous noise escapades. However, the whole thing never gets despite the variety of styles and enormous technical proficiency to narcissistic Frickelei.
Perhaps even more noteworthy that SW Although tried many new things, but also omits some things that were most recently criticized sporadically at PT. So are almost completely the nu-metal traces and drummer Gavin Harrison is reluctant striking (but still play very brilliantly). Remains to be seen whether the new as a hint towards PT-Album 2009 must be seen.
